The dual clutch unit is the main weakness of the Ford Powershift transmission MPS6 / 6DCT450. Typical failure causes include broken torsion springs and brittle, disintegrating plastic components (retainers) within the damper system. The resulting particles can enter the transmission fluid and cause secondary damage to the mechatronic unit.
