The gear selector is a hydraulic actuator equipped with multiple pistons that are controlled by solenoid valves to move the shift forks within the transmission and engage the gears. In addition, the unit includes four gear selector position sensors and a transmission input speed sensor. These sensors continuously monitor the position of the shift forks and the rotational speed of both transmission input shafts, enabling precise gear engagement and real-time clutch control. This makes the gear selector one of the most critical components for shift operations within the transmission. A failure of the hydraulic actuator or its sensors can lead to gear selection issues or clutch malfunction.
