The pressure accumulator is responsible for storing the pressure of the hydraulic system for later use by the actuators. This diaphragm pressure accumulator has two chambers: one chamber stores the hydraulic fluid, while the other contains gas to generate counterpressure. The two chambers are separated by a diaphragm. This type of pressure accumulator has a limited service life, and one of the most common causes of failure is the escape of gas from the gas chamber. If the nitrogen escapes, the accumulator loses its pre-charge pressure. As a result, it can no longer store hydraulic energy or release it back into the system when required. The pressure and volume buffering function is lost, which can lead to greater pressure fluctuations and more frequent pump switching cycles.
